A new scheme has been launched by the State government of Tamil Nadu for female citizens of the state. The scheme is introduced under the name Pink Auto Scheme. After launching this scheme, state governments want to make all the female citizens financially independent. There are also so many new changes that can be done under the State TN Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, by making amendments to the same.
This scheme is launched phase wise. So in the first phase, the government released a total of 250 pink auto rickshaws to all women who live in Chennai city. Pink Auto Scheme 2025
To raise the living standard of the women and make them financially independent, this scheme was started in the state. The scheme also provides gender equality in the state. So the women’s empowerment is also done with the help of this scheme. After getting the auto rickshaw from the government, they can earn money for their living. After earning the money, they become financially independent and provide financial help to their family.
To ensure the safety of the women, the GPS and emergency contact will also be installed in the same Pink Auto Rickshaw by the Government of Tamil Nadu.
3rd Phase Pink Auto Rickshaw Scheme
Now the 3rd Phase of the Pink Auto Rickshaw Scheme has been started, and for that, the applications are also being invited from the eligible women drivers of the state. In the 3rd Phase of the scheme, the women who are aged 20 5o 45 years and also hold a Valid Driving license and reside in Chennai can also apply for it.
In this phase, the priority is also given to widows and destitute women of the state. You can submit your application form to the District Social Welfare officer, Chennai North or South, at Singarvelar Maagligai. The Last date to apply for this phase is 15th September 2025.

New Amendment Rules in Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicles Rules 1989 For Pink Auto
In the new amendment, which is made by the government in the Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989 of the Tamil Nadu state is stated that Pinkauto means the auto rickshaw which is owned and driven by a woman driver. This scheme is managed by the Social Welfare and Women’s Empowerment Department of the state.
In this Pink auto, the GPS, which means Global Positioning System and Vehicle location tracking device also connected to the police helpline of the state. So that they will get a Fast response during any kind of emergencies. The rules that are changed or made are to enhance the safety and security of the driver women and also the passengers.
The Pink auto is not transferred to any other name for at least 5 years from the date of issue of the permit for the Pink auto.
