The Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Department of Tamil Nadu state launched the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme for different eligible old age persons of the state. Under this scheme, all the destitute eligible persons who are destitute and having the age above 60 years will get the monthly pension. The pension amount of this scheme is Rs 1,000/-, which is given to them every month. The people who are 60 years and above and belong to families living below the poverty line will get the benefits. Apart from it, the department of this pension will also provide a Free Saree to the female pensioners and one Free Dhoti to the Male Pensioners on the occasion of the Pongal and Diwali.
